Leah Humphries ended more than a decade in a negative relationship and focused her creative energy on reaching out to women who, like her, needed to feel beautiful again. Leah’s very personal story of illness and hurt lead her to launch My Heart Ties™, the world’s most beautiful ostomy pouch cover. Designed initially to cope with Leah’s own health crisis – the ostomy population in North America is nearly one million and growing - this niche web-based company is changing the lives of women
by helping them reclaim their dignity and self-esteem.

My Heart Ties™ was patented in 2007 and has since been highly noted by The Cleveland Clinic,  Mayo Clinic, Hollister International, and the United Ostomy Association of America.

In addition to My Heart Ties™, Leah is president of Apple Creative Group, a design firm specializing in corporate identity, branding and marketing. Leah is the recipient of numerous awards, including five Addy awards, and Pennsylvania’s Best 50 Women In Business award - presented by Governor Edward Rendell in 2009.

Leah is an active member of her community, serving on several boards, including the Gannon University Small Business Development Center Advisory Board. She maintains her commitment to assisting women by generously donating hours of creative services to women in need who are building small businesses.

Leah has recently stepped into the spotlight again, speaking about her newest venture, the Pain 2 Power Principle. Her passion has become her mission, to evoke change in the lives of women who are hurting. It is her belief that opening up about your suffering paves the road to true healing. No one said it would be easy. Discovering the authentic you is well worth the long journey.

Leah’s own story lead her to reach out to other women who share her condition. The creation of My Heart Ties™ ostomy covers was to assist women with ostomies regain their dignity and self-esteem. Today Leah regularly mentors women experiencing ostomy surgery, always available to speak to a worried patient on-line and by phone.

In a recent article Leah disclosed her emotional journey.

“At the age of 20, I was diagnosed with Crohn’s disease; two years later I underwent colon surgery. ‘Why me?’ was my constant thought. As an art student I had always pictured myself as a free spirit and a creative soul who experienced only the beauty in life. Now I had to face the world with an ileostomy and my distorted perception of my body as broken and ugly.

The message is a simple one, take your experiences and use them to help others. It sounds cliche' but it's easier said than done. This principle forces you to look deep into your own heart. . . that is where the real work begins.

Humphries resides in Northwestern Pennsylvania along with
her Husband Roland - (Roland Inusrance Group) and their three young children.
